紀伊半島南西に位置する和歌山県は、海、山、温泉に恵まれ、梅とみかんの収穫量は全国一である他、太平町のクジラや勝浦のマグロで知られる。
和歌山県の南に位置する白浜は、有馬、道後と並ぶ日本三古湯の一つで気候も穏やか。
南紀白浜空港やアドベンチャーワールドの他、真っ白な砂浜が一面に広がり、崎の湯温泉は太平洋にせり出した岬の先端にあり、目の前に大海原が広がる。
千畳敷は地層が長い年月の間、波によって侵食されてできた岩礁群。
勝浦の港から船で５分渡った場所にあるホテルのお風呂「忘帰洞」は洞窟の中にある。
２００４年世界遺産に登録された「紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道（奈良、和歌山、三重）」の対象とされる、熊野速玉大社、熊野本宮大社、熊野那智大社は熊野三山と呼ばれ、古代から信仰の対象であり、この地に向かう古道は深い森に覆われた険しい山中を辿り、この道を歩くことも修行とされた。又、湯の峰温泉にある日本最古の温泉と言われる、小さな”つぼ湯”や高野山金剛峯寺も世界遺産に登録されている。
