京都へ遷都するまでは都がおかれていた奈良。
奈良を代表する東大寺の大仏（盧舎那仏坐像）は高さ約１５mの世界最大級の仏像。
南大門には、奈良仏師の運慶・快慶の作品で有名な金剛力士像が立つ。
春日大社は平城京の守護と国の繁栄のため創建された国内に３０００社ある春日大社の総本山。阿修羅立像の仏像が有名な興福寺。東大寺、春日大社、興福寺周囲の奈良公園には多くの鹿が生息している。
奈良中心から西には、奈良時代日本の首都、平城京の中枢部であった平城宮跡や唐の高僧・鑑真和上が創建された唐招提寺は盧舎那仏坐像や千手観音立像、薬師如来立像を拝観することができる。
唐招提寺近くに位置する薬師寺の金堂には薬師三尊像が安置されている。
斑鳩（いかるが）には、世界最古の木造建築五重塔が有名な聖徳太子が創建された法隆寺がある。広い境内には、本尊の釈迦三尊像を安置する金堂や、長い期間、秘仏であった救世観音立像を安置する八角堂の夢殿、その他、百済観音立像など有名な仏像や建造物が多く残されている。法隆寺は、日本の寺で初めて世界遺産に登録された寺でもある
奈良には新幹線の駅はなく、東京からだと新幹線でまず京都駅へ向かうのが一般的。
グルメでは、柿の葉寿司や茶粥がある。

The statue of Yakushi Triad is enshrined in the Kondo hall of Yakushiji tempie .located near Toshodaiji temple.
In Ikaruga There is Horyu-ji temple which was founded by prince Shotoku who is famous for the world's oldest wooden five-storied pagoda.
There are many famous Buddha statues and buildings left in the large precincts.
Horyu-ji tempie is also the first temple in Japan to be registered as a World Heritage site.
