お米の産地秋田県はあきたこまちで知られ、美味しい米を使用した、きりたんぽやお酒が作られている。
県内には日本で最も深い田沢湖や、角館は重要伝統的建造物に指定されている武家屋敷が建ち並び、春には満開の枝垂れ桜が美しい。
夏には、東北三大夏まつりの一つ、竿燈まつり（８月３日〜６日）が開催され、夜には、約１０mの長さの竹に多くの灯りを灯した提灯をつけた２８０本の竿燈が、人の手や肩、腰でバランスをとりかかげられる。
日本海に突き出た男鹿半島では「なまはげ柴灯まつり」が毎年２月（第２土曜日を含む金・土・日の３日間）真山神社で開催される。👹
又、秋田を代表する冬の行事、「横手の雪まつりかまくら」（毎年２月１５・１６日）が開催され、市内にたくさんのかまくらが作られ、中には水神様が祀られる。
山の静かな場所には７軒の温泉、乳頭温泉があり、宿に泊まることも入浴のみでも可能
秋田には、映画「忠犬ハチ公」で知られる秋田犬のふるさとで、秋田犬が見られる施設もある。

In quiet place in the mountain there is a 7 hot spring Nyuto onsen you can stay at an inn or just take a bath
In Akita thsre is also a facility where you can see Akita dogs in the hometown of Akita dogs known for the movie " Hachiko a loyal dog"
