平安京遷都以来、日本の都として１２００年の時を刻んだ古都・京都には多くの神社仏閣の歴史と伝統が残され、一年中、多くの人で賑わう人気の観光地。

仁和寺（にんなじ）は皇族が代々住職を務めた「御室御所」とも呼ばれ、遅咲きの桜は目線の高さで楽しめる背の低さが特徴。
京都観光の定番スポット、嵐山。桂川にかかる渡月橋。春の桜に秋の紅葉は訪れる人をひきつける。
天龍寺は、嵐山の景観も取り入れた曹源池庭園で自然と調和した風景が楽しめる。
天龍寺北門を出た竹林の道は竹が立ち並ぶ幻想的な道。
西芳寺は苔寺とも呼ばれる苔の庭園。近くには一年中鈴虫の鳴き声が聞かれることから鈴虫寺の愛称で親しまれている華厳寺（けごんじ）。
京都東山に位置する銀閣寺は、わび・さびと呼ばれる落ち着いた雰囲気をもつ禅宗の仏殿。
昔から知名度が高く多くの人が訪れる清水寺は、切り立った崖に立つ木造建築の本堂・舞台で知られている。清水寺に続く、ねねの道、二寧坂、産寧坂、清水坂の情緒ある参道にはカフェやお土産店が並ぶ。
全国約３万ある稲荷神社の総本宮、伏見稲荷大社は朱色の千本鳥居が延々と続く。
京都郊外宇治市に位置する平等院は極楽浄土の世界を表している。
他にも多くの有名な寺や見所のある京都。伝統産業では、西陣織、京友禅、清水焼があるほか、舞妓体験やレンタル着物なども楽しめる。
